Icon
The icon plays an important part in photography logos, but it isn't a must. Before you select a film, lens, or camera symbol, you should take your competitors into account. If they are using the same kind of icons, you can choose something less literal. If you specialize in a specific type of photography, you should consider using an icon.
Color
In addition to icons of specific objects, colors can also do a lot of work for your logo. As people tend to associate them with particular emotions and feelings. Thus, the colors you choose should be relevant to the type of photography in which you specialize. For example, outdoor and landscape photographers would do well to use earth tones.
Typography
When you are selecting a photography logo typography, consider the style of your audience and work. As a general rule, you should never use more than two fonts in your logo – one for your business name and one for your tagline. No matter what kind of font you are using, test to make sure it's legible at every size and across mediums.
